About Us

The "Blended Learning" Project, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, is a collaborative initiative between The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and FlipEdu HK—a professional organization for teachers. Commencing in September 2022, this three-year project invites participation from primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong to jointly explore effective blended learning practices and innovations. The aim is to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of teaching, as well as to encourage students to explore freely and engage proactively in their learning.

The project is an evolution of the Jockey Club "Flipped Learning" Pilot Project (September 2019 to August 2022), which saw 32 secondary schools participating as "Partner Schools." The project supported schools to trial flipped teaching methods in junior secondary English and Mathematics, yielding positive outcomes. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching and learning underwent a swift transformation, presenting various pressures and challenges to teachers and students. Consequently, the project team has reflected on how to maintain teaching flexibility within this new normal and continue to foster positive and sustained learning motivation among students.

Looking ahead, we aim to extend the experience accumulated from the pilot project to a broader array of schools and subjects. This expansion will encompass upper primary and junior secondary education, covering four key learning areas of Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, and Science Education. We anticipate that through systematic professional development for teachers, robust collaborative learning communities among educators, a variety of learning resources, and public outreach efforts, we can further refine and sustain the growth of blended learning.

Vision

Our goal is to enhance the efficacy and flexibility of teaching methods by collaboratively exploring the effective implementation and innovative approaches of "blended learning" with primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. This initiative also seeks to foster self-directed learning among students, equipping them to embrace the opportunities and confront the challenges presented by the new normal in education.
